List of Things to bring to Costa Rica

Luggage-  In general less is more.  If you don't need it don't bring it.  It can get very old carrying around a heavy bag.

A Good Internal Frame Backpack- Optional but nice of you are riding buses or traveling.

Clothing- We would advise you bring at least two pairs of pants, two pairs of shorts, three t-shirts, one long sleeve shirt, and a jacket or vest.  Synthetic material are often much better since they dry better and wash easily, especially nylon pants.  There are great second hand stores that sell American clothing.

Money Belt- When traveling always keep your passport and money on your body. 

Bug Spray- Bring some good bug repellent.  Depending on the time of year and location bugs may or may not be a problem.   Essential oils may also help (lavender, tea tree, citronella, ect.).  An all natural product called Green Screen is available in Costa Rica.

Spanish to English Dictionary – Recommended also available in Costa Rica.  Although it is possible to get around without knowing Spanish it is much easier when you can speak at least a little.  So practice your Spanish as much as possible before coming

Latin American Phrasebook- Optional but handy

Books- Nothing is better than relaxing and reading a book in the tropics.  Very few are available for sale, so bring all you can.  We are happy to take any book donations.

Camera-

Yoga Mat- Can double as a sleeping mat and a place to sit on the beach

Flash Light-  A flash light is a necessity;  a head lamp is even better.

Sunscreen-  Bring favorite Sunscreen and Block the sun can very intense.

Sleeping Bag – Nights can be chilly.  It is advised to bring something to stay warm.

Immunizations – Any doctor would recommend getting all your vaccinations before traveling outside the country.  Whether you get them or not always have confidence in your bodies ability to take care of itself.

Water- When traveling it is advised to only drink bottled water. 

Anti-Parasite Measures- It is not a bad idea to bring some anti parasite remedies.  Grape fruit seed extract, Black Walnut Hull Tincture, Clove, Ginger, Thyme, Oregano 

Tent- if you want to camp on the Beach (All beaches in Costa Rica are open to public use which includes camping)

Sleeping Pad- For camping

Mosquito Net – Optional but can be very nice

Kitchen Stuff- Optional for traveling (readily available and inexpensive in Costa Rica)
