Our Goal

We hope to provide an environment of mutual benefit and growth.   We want everyone to enjoy themselves while learning and contributing their unique talents and creativity.

Brief Overview:

At Paradise Valley you will have the opportunity to have a unique experience while contributing to a meaningful project.  We are looking for people who are open minded, have a positive attitude, have a desire to learn, and don’t mind getting there hands dirty.  You will get the chance to learn new skills, challenge yourself, and contribute your individual talents.  The living is a bit  rustic, but it is rich in the possibility for learning and growth.  Working and living in this environment can help you appreciate the simple things in life.  

 Your Opportunity:

You will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics including: organic agriculture, construction, permaculture application, alternative energy, speaking Spanish, living simply, diet (vegetarian), holistic health, and yoga.  Work is likely to include one or more of the following: planting trees, landscaping, creating beauty through art, gardening, construction, or food preparation.  Current projects are mainly focused around construction of living quarters, setting up hydroelectric power, gardening, and landscaping, but there are infinite possibilities for individual projects.  Volunteers have an the potential to tailor there own experience if they have particular areas of interest or creative ideas.  Free time activities: nature hikes, enjoying waterfalls, soccer, yoga, studying Spanish, reading, exploring, ect..  There is lots of fresh air, sunshine, and outdoor activity. 

 Our Expectations:

We expect everyone to have a desire to contribute and learn new things.  Honesty, integrity, and flexibility are essential.  Self-motivation, discipline, and creativity are also important.  Above all else, we expect everyone to have fun and contribute to a positive atmosphere .  Because of the nature of the location it is advised that you have some outdoor living/camping experience.  A stay of at least three weeks is requested for logistics. While in Paradise Valley we encourage you to abstain from drinking, smoking and eating meat (we want you to be healthy).

 The Program:

Work-Study Program (Other arrangement can be made upon request)

40 or more hours of work per week - Food included 

20-25 hours per week - $20 US per week requested as a food contribution

15 hours per week - $30 US per week requested which includes your food contribution

Location:

The location is quite remote by western standards, but very beautiful.  There are no telephones or public electricity with in approximately 6 km (4 miles).  

Accommodations:   

Quite rustic.   Bring a tent if possible.  Two cabins.  Very limited electricity is provided by solar power.  Camping platforms are being constructed.   There are showers and fully functional kitchen minus refrigeration. We are working on getting a cell phone.  Ask for further details.

Meals:

Wholesome vegetarian meals are prepared communally.  You are asked to make a $20 per week food contribution unless working full time.

Fill out the Volunteer/Work Study Info Sheet (click link to down load) and email it to solomontownsend@hotmail.com or solomon@nowinparadise.com   This information will help us remain organized and hopefully save time for every one.  We may receive lots of interest, but we can only accept a few volunteers.  Please wait patiently and we will respond as soon as possible.
